Golf Journalists Association of Canada member Mike McAllister specialized in covering the golf lifestyle for more than a decade. An Ottawa-based marketing professional, he was also a graduate of the University of Ottawa (B.A. English) and Canadore College (Print Journalism) and founded Chapeau Noir Golf in 2009.
The digital golf magazine focussed on trends in golf apparel and Mike was prolific in his approach to content, filling the pages with more than 900 articles on the topic.
In addition, he was a freelance contributor to PGATour.com, Clublink Life Magazine and back9network.com, and was featured in publications such as Sharp Magazine, The Scotsman, and The Globe and Mail.
Mike was an engaging sole and became acquainted with many of his fellow GJAC members through social media, where he was always up for a friendly exchange of ideas.
Mike was devoted husband to Martine and supportive and loving father to Matthew and Madison. He was a coach, traveller, skier, golfer, and was spirited in all aspects of this life.
That amazing attitude held on through a Cancer diagnosis but unfortunately, he left us on October 14, 2020 at the age of 52.
To honour him a brick has been purchased in his name at the World Golf Village on behalf of our membership. It will be located on the Walk of Champions at the World Golf Hall of Fame in St. Augustine, Florida. It will be part of their Summer installation that will occur this August.
